Tip #41: How to Lower your Risk of Lung Cancer.

Beta- cryptoxanthin, found in red peppers, pumpkin, peaches, tangerines, and papaya, may lower the risk of lung cancer. A study published in Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention, followed over 60,000 adults in China and found that those eating the most cryptoxanthin foods showed a 27% reduction in lung cancer risk. When the smokers in the study were evaluated, those who consumed the most cryptoxanthin rich foods had a 37% lower risk of lung cancer compared to smokers who ate the least of these protective foods.
