Out of all the nuts, cashews have the lowest fat content. The really good news is that the majority of their fat is oleic acid, the same monounsaturated fat found in olive oil. Studies have shown that monounsaturated fats lower LDL cholesterol while raising HDL cholesterol.

A study published in the journal Obesity, found that people who eat nuts at least 2 times a week were 31% less likely to gain weight than those who never or almost never ate nuts.
